We’re proud to release the first in a series of ‘Why We Serve’ videos featuring two notable Florida State University alumni, Chairman of the Republican Party of Florida, State Sen. Joe Gruters (R-Sarasota), and Florida Senate Minority Leader, State Sen. Gary Farmer (D-Ft. Lauderdale).
Student Fellows of IOP@FSU interviewed members of the Florida Legislature to gain insight into why they chose to serve their community through public office, including those who served as their mentors, and advice they would give to those beginning their careers.

After launching our organization in October 2020, we’ve established multiple programs to further our missions to promote civil engagement in politics.
